Maltese entry for JESC 2014 revealed
VALLETTA, MALTA – The Maltese song for this year’s Junior Eurovision has been finalised. This is the first time in Malta’s Eurovision history that a Maltese performer will be competing on home ground; consequently, the local anticipation for the song is greater than ever. The song is to be sung entirely in English. It is written by Matt Muxu Mercieca and composed by Elton Zarb #together with the assistance of the vocal coach Gillian Attard.
As we have previously announced in the past weeks, Federica Falzon, the eleven year old Mezzo-Soprano has been internally selected to represent Malta in the upcoming JESC to be held on 15 November. Federica has recently won the prestigious TV show “Ti Lascio Una Canzone” shown on the Italian national TV RAI Uno. In addition, last July, Federica performed in the annual concert by Maltese tenor and internationally acclaimed Joseph Calleja.
TVM.com.mt took the comments of the author and composers responsible for this year’s Junior Eurovision entry. Gillian Attard expressed that the song is “super emotional”, which makes her shiver every time she hears it. Federica’s colours in her voice and the depth of the lyrics are what inspired the musicians to compose this song, stated Elton Zarb. Matt Muxu Mercieca added that “to obtain your dream you must go through obstacles and rise above anything in the way in order to let the world see the light inside of you”.
Elton Zarb, Gillian Attard and Matt Muxu Mercieca are the trio that were also responsible for the music and lyrics of last year’s winning entry, “The Start”, which was performed by Gaia Cauchi.
The song #together with the song title will be released soon, meanwhile, as a little teaser; here is the bridge of the song!
“Shine the light
Throughout the darkest night
Now I see, all we can be,
I believe no dream is out of reach”
