MALTA – The 20 acts for MESC 2016 edition presented last night and their songs are now available on the web. Let’s find our some information about the artists and of course have a say in the poll which we open today.

Maxine Pace: Following her success with the band, Maxine sought to become a solo performer and as a matter of fact, entered the Junior Eurosong competition on two successive occasions, in 2009 with ‘Toy Soldier’ finishing in seventh place, and in 2010 with ‘Lady Lady’ Ga Ga finishing eighth place.
Deborah C: Deborah C aged 24, comes from the small village of Għajnsielem Gozo. She has started her singing career at the early age of 9 and from there she paved the road to a successful career, attaining popularity both on the local and foreign scene. Her participation in the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest of 2005 was a significant step forward in the local music scene. Moreover, in September 2012, she won the prestigious festival Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza and also the Televoting Award. After her participation in the Malta Eurovision Final 2012/2013, she has been collaborating with the local DJ’s Toby and Carlo Gerada and together released their new remix (Hitting the Bay Top 10 Chart). After this achievement, Deborah C has been in Lithuania to shoot a Music Video of her remix ‘You Make me Go’! Today Deborah is a resident singer on one of Malta’s top Sunday afternoon television shows.
Lawrence Gray: Gray participated in Malta Song for Europe seven times, coming twice second, with “The Right Time” in 1999 and with “Why Not” in 2003 (won the televoting). He came third with “Count on Me” in 2001 and he came twice fourth, in 2002 with “What Happened to Our Love” and in 2004 with “You’re on My Mind”.
Raquel Galdes: In 2013 she did her debut in a local festival with the song ‘Mhux Pupa Biss’ composed by Minik and penned by Rita Pace by which she placed in the 8th position. Later that year, she managed to make it with the 20 semi-finalists of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘Invisible’ which is composed by Philip Vella and penned by Gerard James Borg. In 2014 after her performance in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, she went to Edinburgh to give this year’s x-Factor a try. She had a very good feedback infact Raquel managed to make it till the 3rd phase – which is the one before the live shows. She will totally give it a try next year.
Domenique Azzopardi: Among local festivals that Domenique has competed many times in them ,we find the ‘Malta Eurovision Song Contest’, ‘L-Ghanja Tal-Poplu’, & ‘Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza’, ‘The Malta Hit Song Contest’, & ‘The Summer Hit Song Contest’ where recently, she placed at the 1st position.
Jessika: Jessica was one of the 16 finalists for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2011 and competed with ‘Down Down Down’, words by Jessica Muscat and music by Philip Vella. Jessica participated again with a very catchy upbite tune named ‘Dance Romance’ in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, in which the lyrics are by penned herself and composed by Philip Vella.
Daniel Testa: On November 29, 2013, Testa was announced as one of the 20 semi-finalists hoping to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 during a special edition of the television show Xarabank, with his song “One Last Ride”. After reaching the final, he finished third place. He made it to the final 20 in the 2015 edition on November 22, 2014 with his song ‘Something In The Way’.
Ira Losco: Losco started her career with a college band called Tiara but they split up a few months after Losco represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 which was held in Tallinn. She placed 2nd with the song 7th Wonder. In 2003, she was chosen to perform the song called “Reaching Higher” which was the official song of the Xth Games of the Small States of Europe Malta 2003. In August 2014, Losco helped to raise awareness of the disease ALS by participating in the Ice Bucket Challenge.
Franklin Calleja: The future is ample with opportunity which Franklin is more than willing to take advantage of. He hopes to be able to one day represent our tiny island on the international Eurosong stage, whilst also pursuing a career as a singer in his own right. In his third participation at the Malta Eurovision 2015 edition, Franklin wowed the national and international audience with ‘Still Here’ a composition by Eurovision 2009 winner Alexander Rybak. Rybak was so impressed by Frankjlin’s vocals and personality that he offered to write him a song with a great 5th place. The collaboration will get a continuation in the future, so watch out! The song ‘Still Here’ was released as Franklin’s first single and peaked already at number 2 in the Maltese Itunes charts, a big accomplishment with also very good feedback from abroad. So the future looks bright for this amazing artist!
Dario Mifsud Bonnici: Dario Mifsud Bonnici took his first vocal tuition at the age of fifteen at the Euro Institute of Music and Arts under the direction of Karen Polidano. His first major challenge came when in 2005 he auditioned and was chosen to take part in ‘L-Isfida’ a program on a local TV station. In this program Dario had to perform the three art disciplinces that of singing,dancing and acting. To further his vocal and performing studies Dario flew to London and attended a course at the Music Tech music college . During this course he got offered a chance to Audition for a degree scholarship amongst 200 participants around the world .He managed to end up with the top 5 and was given the opportunity to perform in front of a large crowd in a majestic venue in London.
Danica Muscat: Following this experience, the female vocalist returned to Malta with her head help up high, and made an attempt to get through to the final phases of all leading competitions, succeeding on almost each and every occasion. As a matter of fact, she made it through to the LIVE shows within the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza every year between 2011 and 2014, the Malta Eurovision Song Contest between 2012 and 2013 and the Summer Hit Song Contest in 2014.
Christabelle Borg: Christabelle has won 8 Bay Music Awards these being Best Solo Artist 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 , 2013 Viewers Choice Award 2008,2008 and also the Best Song Award in 2009. Christabelle has had the privilege of performing at all of these award shows. Besides being nominated for several other awards Christabelle has also won Best R n b artist at the Malta Music Awards where Christabelle has also performed.
Stefan Galea: Galea competed in the Malta Junior Eurovision final in 2009 with the song “Shake Up Wake Up” among 19 other young singers who made it to the final from 66 submissions. Galea made it through to the top 69 (first phase) from 182 entries in Malta Eurovision with the song “Meant For More,” written by Noel Cohen, Andrew Underberg, and Janice Fitzgerald. and in 2015 Stefan made it to the top 48 (first phase) for the Malta Eurovision 2015 with the song What You Wanna Hear.
