MAD VMA: Photo & Video Memories
ATHENS, GREECE – Since 2008 one of tasks at MAD TV was to follow and cover the annual event of the broadcaster titled MAD Video Music Awards. Since then my attention and love to them was not as big as it would turned out. In 2008 I went to one of the most difficult venues to work in, Melina Merkouri Rock Theatre in Athens. Open aired and with almost 40 degrees I had to prepare myself for a huge event coverage which was not related to Eurovision at all. The rehearsals stunned me. The production and the work was similar to what I am used to in Eurovision editions. Then the dress rehearsal came and I was making test photos from the performances. Amazing feeling.
The next year the same emotions in bigger scale this time. But in 2010 everything changed. MAD TV moved the event to an indoor arena, a larger arena for the very first time. The event was ecstatic and along with Vassilis and Yannis we decided to make a rest coverage of the event. Since most of our files and reports disappeared when we lost the old oikotimes these are the photos and the videos we managed to find from that year. Needless to say that I was almost crying when Hurts performed on stage and almost got orgasmic when I saw Eleni Foureira on stage!
In 2011 things changed a bit and with Vassilis moving to Hungary, me and Yannis tried to feel the excitement once again. We are not sure what was actually wrong, there weren’t so many hits maybe but the atmosphere at the awards was even bigger, growing and growing every year. Especially when Sakis appeared on stage the Tae Kwon Do arena was almost collapsed from shouting.
We do cover the event every year. So no changes in 2014. On June 22nd we will bring you highlights (but no revelations) for the big night while we will have a great report and photo gallery from the grand night of MAD VMA 2014 on June 23rd! So you better watch out! Remember you can vote for the artists (preferably show your support to the Eurostars) here and if you are in Athens make sure you get a ticket – they’re almost sold out, here!
This post is dedicated to Vassilis Dimitrakopoulos whom I am missing a lot and hope one day he turn into a Eurofan and join me for a Eurovision coverage!
