The First Semifinal is now over and we have the ten qualifiers for the grand final. They are now at the press conference area they will give their statements and will choose thier first or second half position in the final by draw.

REPORT ON THE PRESS CONFERENCE
Directly after the first semi final ended, the 10 finalists made their way to the press centre for the winners conference. Due to limited time, the journalists were only able to ask two questions per winning country (one from their own country and one from International press). Each artist then selected their “winning” number to determine whether they compete in the first or second half of the final on Saturday. The two questions/answers asked for each finalist are as follows:
Moldova – Aliona Moon (O Mie)

Q1. How heavy is your dress Aliona? A1. We don’t know exactly how heavy, but when it’s coming off, Aliona feels pain in her back.
Q2. Which country do you think is your biggest competition this Saturday?
A2. There are a lot of countries that can make it to the final and can deserve to make top spot, let’s see result of second semi final first.
Lithuania – Andrius Pojavis (Something)
How did you handle the nerves before your performance? Andrius replied that he just goes with the flow. Q1. First Album was released last year, and now you are through to Final of Eurovision, which was a big surprise, how does it feel and who do you dedicate your victory to? A1. I do it for my
Q2. Was this result unexpected? And how will you celebrate tonight? A2. I estimated 8th as my album is called “8th” and I’ll have a drink to celebrate.
Ireland – Ryan Dolan (Only love survives)
Ryan was reminded about a promise he made in his 2nd rehearsal .. Will he show his 6 pack? He declined. But was very happy and will take a day off tomorrow.
Q1. Ryan a lot of coverage about your father coming over to support? He is a priest, did he give you any special advice? A1. He is not here yet, will arrive on Wednesday, but he has been very supportive and praying for the best.
Q2. What thoughts do you have about singing in a different language other than your native language? A2. I think any artist should sing in whatever language they feel happy with.
Estonia – Birgit (Et uus saaks alguse)
Birgit is extremely happy and HOD thanked everyone who voted.
Q1. Birgit apparently was very worried as she said before semi final that there were no “friendly” neighbours. A1. Birgit said she was very happy with result and was pleased that so many people voted for her even although not a neighbour.
Belarus – Alyona Lanskaya (Solayoh)
Today I realised how much I miss my family and my goal is to bring people to a happy moment.
Q1. What do you think of the planet Solayoh? A1. Ofcourse I think my planet helped give me the energy with good thoughts.
Q2. If Belarus was to win this year, would it help to develop democracy in your country?
A2. I love my country and we are ready to host.
Denmark – Emmelie de Forest (Only teardrops)
Emmelie was asked if she felt she had a lot of pressure on her shoulders being a neighbouring country? Emmelie was very happy and speechless. She could not stop smiling.
Q1. After winning tonight, how much do you believe in your song? A1. She strongly believes in her song and very happy to be in final.
Q2. How many questions have you had about the fact you don’t wear shoes?
A2. Many questions, but for me it is a natural thing, I like to feel close to the ground and have no restrictions.
Russia – Dina Garipova (What if)
Dina very happy, really interesting and exciting.
Q1. We saw you had a little “grandma“ doll with you it is the talisman who gave it to you and what was this for?
A1. Good luck charm from her fans.
Q2. You seemed emotional, who were you thinking of during your performance.
A2. When I sing I think of all the people, the words are important for me and I want to tell the message as best as I can. “We are one”
Belgium – Roberto Bellarosa (Love kills)
How much energy did you get from the crowd tonight? “Huge surprise for me“, I’m 18 years old and I didn’t expect this reaction, thank you for everybody and thank you Belgium.
Q1. Before entering arena, many young Swedish girls with Belgian flags had Roberto’s name written on them, Do you think you could be the new Justin Beeber? A1. He doesn’t want to look like Justin Bieber, but now he gets through to the finals he wants to cut his hair, HOD tells him only after finals.
Q2. Italians love you, don’t cut hair .. In national selection, you sang 3 songs, 2 in English and 1 in French, if you had a choice, would you have preferred to sing in English or French in the Eurovision? A2. I think this song is better in English, but I prefer to sing in French.
Ukraine – Zlata Voinovich (Gravity)
Nervous in green room, I’m almost crying, thanks everyone for votes and support.
Q1. You were one of the last artists to be called, how did you feel at that moment?
A1. I was nervous, I broke one of my boots, so I was carried to the stage by Igor, just like Cinderella.
Q2. Ukraine has always sent beautiful amazing girls to the contest, does Ukraine not have beautiful men to send to the contest? A2. We have Verka Serduchka.
The Netherlands – Anouk (Birds)
You were the last to be selected, how did you feel? Anouk replied she was not worried, she saw camera men beside her and hoped it was because she was through .. And then there she was, 10th envelope.
Q1. Eurovision has a lot of gay viewers, you are a gay icon in The Netherlands and Belgium, is it important for you to be a gay icon in order to win?
A1. Not really, I think if you give a good performance then that is more important.
Q2. Last week you performed in an empty arena, how much energy do you get from a crowd of people? A2. A lot of energy with many people and flag waving, that was really awesome.
