DID YOU KNOW?
January and February will be Eurovision months in the Baltic state. During 8 shows, from January 3rd, 12 potential artists and 12 potential entries will fight for a ticket to Vienna. On February 21st, a Grand Final will be held to match the best singer with the best song.
This pleasant situation is familiar to composer and singer Dmitrijus Savrovas better known by stage name Sasha Song. In 2009 Dimitrijus Savrovas together with Marijus Adomaitis composed song “Love” and participated with this single in “Eurovision”.
Single “Love” was recorded in three different versions: Lithuanian (“Pasiklydęs žmogus”), English (“Love”) and Russian (“Odinoky Geroj”). Song spread all over the world where “Eurovision” fans were listening to it. International song contest every year gathers about 195 million “Eurovision” viewers. That is indeed great opportunity to earn good profits – author gets benefit from song copyrights every time it is played. Single “Love” generated about 30,000 euro profits for its authors.
Dmitrijus says that being a songwriter is a bloody hard work. “You have to know about music history, what is trendy in music industry, have a perfect hearing and of course talent.” Dmitrijus thinks that money prize from LATGA association motivates people to be creative but has the other side of the coin too.
“People can do everything for money. For example write a song even though they have never tried to do that before, – says Dmitrijus, – I am happy that people have great taste in music in Lithuania and vote for good songs. People really liked my song „Love” and that is the reason why it spread around the world. That is how I earned money from one single”.
Dmitrijus Savrovas has experience of 20 years on the stage. To everyone who wants to participate in „Eurovision” song contest he emphasizes that author of the golden song can become everyone who wants from all around the world. So do not be shy and send your application to Lithuania!
