LITHUANIA 2014: LET THE SHOW BEGIN
VILNIUS, LITHUANIA – The search for Lithuania’s representative for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest starts tonight. The Lithuanian broadcaster, LRT, will select its representative through ten two-hour shows which begin tonight at 22.00 CET. Among the contestants, some will try their luck once again, including Sasha Son who represented the country in Moscow in 2009 and Jurijus Veklenko and Monika Linkyte who provided backing vocals to Andrius Pojavis in Malmo this year.
Tonight’s premier will see all of Lithuania’s Eurovision representatives from the past 20 years take part. The competitive side of the selection begins next Saturday when ten artist will sing Eurovision hits in order to make it to the five qualifying for the second round at the end of the show. The next batch of ten singers will be presented in the third week. The split 50-50 jury and televote will decide the qualifiers from each round. LRT has promised some international judges from Sweden, Germany and Russia to take part as well.
The final of the Lithuanian national selection will take place on February 15, with four top singers remaining in the contest. All shows will also be broadcast via the network’s website.
