Lena (Germany 2010, 2011) gets the crown
BOCHUM, GERMANY – On December 3rd this years last big German music-awards were celebrated in the venue “Bochumer Jahrhunderthalle”. The event “1LIVE Krone 2015” is named after a public radio-station “1LIVE”. It is a division of the WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk – that is part of the EBU-connected ARD) and it is very common with the Teenagers up to Mid-20’s. The station broadcasts terrestrial as well as on web has a wide range and is very innovative with new formats.
From 2000 1LIVE started the music-awards in different categories. The idea is not to go with the charts or the sales of media. It is to ask their listeners by polls on the internet. This idea made the “1LIVE Krone” the biggest radio-award in Germany.
There are a few special things about this event. Since 2006 the awards are hold in the same venue. There are no tickets on sale, all the tickets are ruffled off to the (mostly young) listeners. One artist has the chance to open the awards with an one hour concert. This idea is very smart. That means the vibes while giving the awards away is very enthusiastic. The atmosphere is always described as crinkly. That means the artist love to be present and it’s an honour to win a price – voted by more than a million listeners.
Besides the categories: best comedy, best video, best live-act, best band, best single or best album the categories best male artist and best female artist are the evening tops. This years “1LIVE Krone 2015” (radio-station ‘1Live’ crown 2015) as best female artist went to Lena after a very successful year.
She released her fourth album “Crystal Sky” in 2015 and was performing the main title of the soundtrack of one of the best-selling German cinema movies “Fack Ju Göthe 2”. She is definitely one of the most successful female artists in Germany at the moment.
