LAURA READY TO HOST EUROVISION FOR BBC
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – Laura Whitmore will host the Eurovision Song Contest for BBC Three. The I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! NOW! presenter will join Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills to co-host the channel’s coverage of the semi-finals in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The blonde beauty is excited to be joining the team, and thinks the experience will be “pretty cool”. Laura said: “I am going to be in Copenhagen doing some bits for BBC Three for Eurovision so that will be pretty cool. It’s a tough life!”
She is stepping into the new role after last year’s BBC Three co-host Ana Matronic, from US band Scissor Sisters, has pulled out because she is away touring in May.
Scott – who has been presenting BBC Three’s coverage since 2011 – says he is happy to show Laura the ropes during what will be their “most fun” week. He said: “I’m very excited to be presenting with Laura and showing her Eurovision for the first time. She has no idea what she’s let herself in for. It’s the most fun and surreal week ever.”
The semi-finals takes place in the week before the BBC One’s TV final on May 10, which will continue to be hosted by Graham Norton. The UK has a guaranteed place in the final as it is one of the main funders of the event and will be represented by Leicester-born singer Molly Smitten-Downes.
