BELGRADE, SERBIA – Željko Joksimović is a jury member in X Factor Adria that’s been going on in Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and FYR Macedonia. In last night’s show transsexual named Fifi, from FYR Macedonia, participated and got three yes from the jury and a “no” from Joksimović.
“I don’t like what you are doing, but you sing good” – was Joksimović’s comment after Fifi’s performance. Even though rest of jurors stand up and applauded to talented Macedonian singer, Joksimović said “NO”.
Serbian LGBT organization strongly condemned last night’s behavior of Serbian representative in Eurovision 2012. “Željko has shown disrespect, disbelief and disgust, and ultimately discredit her as contender and only on basis of her gender identity, but not on basis of her singing ability. Željko as a public person is responsible for what he is saying in the show.
Moreover, he shows a basic ignorance of the law on gender expression and violated the anti-discrimination law judging a person based on her personal capacity and not on the basis of her vocal abilities. In this way, Joksimović contributes even more difficult position of transsexuals and at the end gay people in Serbia who are exposed to daily violence and discrimination on multiple levels – the statement of LGBT Serbia.
Željko Joksimović has been avoiding press after last night’s X Factor Adria show.
