JESC 2016: Destin(y)ed to Malta next year as PM asks Finance Minister to find the funds!
Fotis Konstantopoulos (Greece)
MALTA – Destiny Chukunyere made the impossible miracle: to bring one more Junior Eurovision trophy back to the island of knights. This brings Malta in the top of JESC winners along with Belarus and Georgia. The big question now is: will Malta host it next year?
Off the record discussions with Maltese sources (before the contest) revealed to oikotimes.com that Malta would host the event again only if they win, something that actually happened. There were rumours in the newsdesks that Malta wanted to host the event no matter the winner, something that TVM sources called false information. But now they have a good reason to be in the spotlight as the entire nation is always proud when the win something.
It will be no surprise to see Malta hosting it again as TVM CEO Anton Attard and Gordon Bonello were hired by BNT to actually help in the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Bulgaria while Maltese production company was the one making the opening intro video once again (you must have noticed the production similarities with the 2014 JESC edition).
PBS officials such as CEO were hired to help BNT produce last Saturday’s show. Gordon Bonello, who was last year’s show producer in Malta kept his position in Bulgaria.
In 2014 Junior Eurovision cost 1,4 million Euros and since the Maltese Prime Minister already asked the Finance Minister to find the funds to host the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, I personally guess that we are heading to Malta next November. It is a matter of days for the final confirmation. We promise you we will be there! (again)
