JESC 2014: “BIG” DECISION MADE!
VALLETTA, MALTA – The first Steering Group meeting took place last week in Malta regarding the hosting of the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The meeting focused on potential venues and the rules for the upcoming contest edition. They also decided the new Steering Group members which are:
Ekaterina Orlova (Chairwoman)
Vladislav Yakovlev (EBU Executive Supervisor)
Viktoria Romanova (NTU, as organiser in 2013)
Anja Zegwaard (AVROTROS, as organiser in 2012)
Tine Matulessy (SVT)
Olga Salamakha (BTRC)
Anton Attard (PBS, as organiser in 2014)
This means that Gohar Gasparyan and Ronald Kok are now out of the Steering Group. It was also decided the 2013 changes to apply in the 2014 Junior Euovision edition with slight changes. The running order will be decided by the Junior participants in the welcome reception and there will be again three awards although only the winner will receive his/her award on stage. The other two prizes will be given during the winners press conference.
The biggest decision that can change everything in Junior Eurovision (actually that was totally sarcastic), is that the songs in Junior Eurovision could be 2:45 to 3:00 minutes but will be eligible only if released after May 1, 2014. Having read that we can already see a line up of countries applying for participation!
