JESC 2014: almost 1,4 million cost for the project
MALTATODAY.COM.MT REPORTS – The government forked out a total of €1,385,150 on the organisation of the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Culture Minister Owen Bonnici revealed.
Responding to a parliamentary question by Opposition MP Francis Zammit Dimech, Bonnici said that a lot of works needed to be carried out on the Marsa Shipbuilding.
“This decision resulted in an excellent event that served as a showcase for Malta in over 16 countries where the Junior Eurovision Song Contest was broadcast,” Bonnici said. “The European Broadcasting Union had congratulated PBS for its technical and organizational standards and said that they should serve as a model for future festivals.”
The same building was used to hold the Malta Eurovision Song Contest a week later. Responding to a series of further parliamentary questions by Zammit Dimech pertaining to the cost of the annual festival, Bonnici said that the contractor services of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest were extended by a week.
