JESC 2013 / DAY 2: TECHNICAL REHEARSALS
KYIV, UKRAINE – Today the hard work begins in Kyiv and Ukraine Palace stage welcomes the artists for their first technical rehearsals. Thoughout the day you will have our first comments on the rehearsals along with the first video impressions.
SWEDEN – WATCH THE VIDEO
With a powerful voice Eliias is opening the show this year. Sweden is doing a great job and Eliias is giving a very strong promising performance. “Det är dit vi ska” is indeed a very nice strong, maybe not too fit for a Junior rather a senior Eurovision edition but nevertheless, Eliias is delivering the song perfectly.
AZERBAIJAN – WATCH THE VIDEO
The second song to perform on stage is Azerbaijan and Rustam Karimov, maybe the most handsome kid in this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest edition. “Me and My Guitar” is a song title that reminds us Belgian entry in 2010 but Rustam is here to present his first ever own composition. Not bad at all as this kid has already gotten lots of attention from the media and press!
ARMENIA – WATCH THE VIDEO
Monika Avanesyan is performing her song entry now on stage and lots of colours are used for this rehearsal. Though I think there is big space to solve the light issues with this one. Too many things are happening on stage I kinda lost it a bit although I still have problems with the screen feed in the press area. “Choco Factory” is not the song I like this year but it’s a descent effort I guess.
SAN MARINO – WATCH THE VIDEO
Very strong performance, very dancy one but there is something wrong with the song entirely. Maybe it’s not so memorable. Can Michele impress the viewers as he impressed the media and the delegations last night? I am still curious to find out on Saturday.
FYR MACEDONIA – WATCH THE VIDEO
Maybe on of the worst songs this year but the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is deserving a big bravo for just participating and finding a song the very last minute. Red yellow stage in the colors of the national flag is of course what we all expected! Still the song seems very very bad and very unprofessional.
UKRAINE – WATCH THE VIDEO
Sofia Tarasva is having now the stage on her own with lots of green leizer lights and somehow a dark lighted stage. This is the host country entry and for sure we will have a big applause for this one. Blue and green are the main colours in the chorus of the song.
BELARUS – WATCH THE VIDEO
Lookign fresh and with an interesting tune this might come out as a dark horse in this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Some press and media representatives said that Ilya’s entry is the most original Junior style entry and been a CIS country entry it could do well in the scoreboard. Still the presentation is in technical levels so we have no good idea of how the final performance will be.
MOLDOVA – WATCH THE VIDEO
With lovely graphis Rafael is on stage after a big leagl fight which almost kept him back to Chisinau. He is happy and gives his powerful voice to us performing his song. Not sure if this could do much on Saturday night, but somehow I am sure he is enjoying it big time.
GEORGIA – WATCH THE VIDEO
I hate the song but I love the stage presentation. Totally one of the same from Georgia wanting to just win again! Well they won’t win this year. The Smile Shop though fresh and energetic on stage they give their best of energy and joy for the cameras.
THE NETHERLANDS – WATCH THE VIDEO
They are bright, they are enjoying and they spread the message of happiness on stage. Mylene & Rosanne are really good on stage and they already wear their final costumes along with the stage props. not sure yet how this will look on camera but some say here that the song is too happy to get high scores. You never know though as I would definitely give a televote for it!
MALTA – WATCH THE VIDEO
With many stars on stage and dark light set Gaia gives an outstanding performance once again. Maybe too hard facial expression but still it’s a technical rehearsal to judge. Vocally this girl is a phenomenon. The draw and the background images are surely giving this song a tremendous boost! OK I think we have a winner. If not Malta I will be very very disappointed!
RUSSIA – WATCH THE VIDEO
Last but no least Russian is giving their performance. Well there is a boat on stage with which the singer is haeding to the center of the stage. A big star pops up from the backdrops making this like an X Factor show rather than a Junior Eurovision. Vocally not the best performance but I guess there will be time for imporvement. Yellow dress for the Russian entrant. Overall not a bad entry at all.
and that’s it folks. tomorrow there will be no rehearsals but excusrsion for delegations, artists and media so we will be back with the rehearsals on Thursday with much more detailed reports and videos.
