EXCLUSIVE / JESC 2013: CYBC DECLINES OFFER
NICOSIA, CYPRUS – Cyprus national broadcaster finally said “no” to Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013 although the negotiations were going very well.
The national broadcaster offered by EBU and NTU extensive help and support to submit an entry with very low cost and lots of logisitics offered for free by NTU but still they decided to remain stubborn.
CyBC also got a song ready and produced for the contest but still the Cypriot national broadcaster scared to enter the contest most likely affraid of social reactions in the island about potential costs. After all the national broadcaster is undergoing major budget cuts and fires lots of people.
It’s a real shame from a country that did anything possible back in 2008 to get the contest in the island and host it. What a nice way to show respect and thankfulness to the EBU institutions. Well, they decided to burry themselves internationally as they also withdrawn from senior Eurovision.
