PORTUGAL – Salvador Sobral spoke about his health condition and Eurovision 2018. He said he is feeling better day by day and he is setting the goal to be present in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest: “If everything goes well, he’s coming to the Eurovision. That’s what we’re waiting for. It’s what’s planned, “said the songwriter of the winning song of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Just the other day, the news came that one country (Georgia) had chosen a jazz band (Iriao) to represent them and my brother sent me a text to say ‘Have you seen it? Maybe we have changed something”. Of course, this has now become something dear to us”.
MOLDOVA – Due their appearance in the Belarusian national pre selection auditions, Moldovan national broadcaster Pelageya Stefoglo has been disqualified from the Moldovan national selection. This leaves 27 entries for O Melodie Pentru Europa. There was another case examined though: Sandy C & Aaron Sibley who are competing as a duo as well Sasha Bognibov both entered 1in360, the selection process for San Marino. But that was prior to the TRM rule publication therefore they are allowed to participate.
THE NETHERLANDS – AVRROTROS and Waylon, the 2018 Dutch representative will reveal their entry for Lisbon on March 10th
FINLAND – It’s gonna be epic, was the statement of the internally selected Saara Aalto about the video clips made for the songs in UMK 2018. Saara Aalto is highly projected as one of the Eurofans favourite this year with great anticipation about her song.
BELARUS – Group Shuma has changed the lyrics of their entry according to BTRC instructions and they are now eligible to participate in the national final, local media claims. Songwriter Max Shchur helped Shuma rewrite certain parts of their song. BTRC said to Sputnik about the issue: “In accordance with our position and rules, the participants in the project are obligated to respect the organisers’ recommendations when it comes to the staging and performance of the song and all other questions related to participating in this project. To the artist and to everyone else we stress: all our recommendations are done to make sure that everything is being done legally, that we will all get a great television show that will attract the viewers and inspire them to vote, and that we get a worthy representative for the Eurovision Song Contest.”
EUROVISION IN CONCERT 2018 – Eugent Bushpepa, the 2018 Albanian representative is the first Eurovision 2018 act confirmed for the Dutch Eurovision party.
CZECH REPUBLIC – Dami Im (Australia 2016), Robin Bengtsson (Sweden 2017), Naviband (Belarus 2017), SunStroke Project (Moldova 2010 & 2017), Sanja Vucic (Serbia 2016), Jalisse (Italy 1997), Iveta Mukuchyan (Armenia 2016), Nathan Trent (Austria 2017), Norma John (Finland 2017) and Liora Simon (Israel 1995) will bee members of the International jury for the national final set for January 29th. It will take a while for the Czech Republic to announce the winner of their national final. The app voting will close tonight and the international jury votes are in, but we will have to wait a full week before we hear who will represent the Czechs. The results will be announced on January 29th.
