Two semi finals are going to be held – first in Iasi on the 27th of January, and then on the 10th of February in Arad. The Grand Final of Selectia Nationala will take place on the 17th of February in Bucharest. TVR has also appointed a new Head of Delegation – Smaranda Vornicu-Shalit. She was part of the successful Cerbul de Aur – an international festival held last year in Brasov. She stated the following:
“To be nominated as part of the TVR team for the Eurovision 2019 project is an honor and a great responsibility. I wish that the experience gained in the Cerbul de Aur International Festival will be supported by this shared dream of us, whether we are talking about artists and fans, the general public and the organizers. We all want the best possible outcome for Romania in the finals in Tel Aviv!”
The title of one of the entries that will be competing to represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 has been revealed. “I Couldn’t Give It Up” has been written and produced by Ryk, with the lyrics co-written by Aidan O’Connor.
A report has claimed that Ireland will send Niall Horan to the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. In a since removed article on the Irish Mirror, the former One Direction star seems to be confirmed as RTÉ’s pick for Tel Aviv. Soon after the story appeared on Irish Mirror, the newspaper deleted the article again.
No joke entries and SVT’s wishes for a ballad is what the SVT tweet seems to wish: “Many strong ballad entries in #Melfest 2019, vows the producer. Among them we’ll find acts like @WiktoriaVJ, @BisharaMorad and @lisaajaxx. Two ballads in the top 3 last year, what will happen this time?”
Despite initial rumours that Panik Records and Minos EMI will propose or not an artist to ERT for Eurovision 2019 the truth is that both labels will not participate. Therefore the rumoured names of Elena Tsagkrinou and Kostas Ageris are currently denied, despite what fan sites report.
