After winning the ninth season of The Voice of Poland in early December, singer Marcin Sójka admitted in an interview that he would like to represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Addressed on the possibility of the country making an internal selection, Marcin guarantees that he would “definitely accept” the invitation from TVP, admitting also the possibility of entering the contest in the national final “if the opportunity arose.”
Eurovision Song Contest 2018 winner Netta, has announced that she will be releasing her follow up single to “Toy”, on February 1st 2019. The song is called “Bassa Sababa” which is an Israeli slang term meaning “Damn Great”; but despite the Israeli title, the song will be sung in English. The song has been composed by Stav Begger, Avshalom Ariel and Netta herself. This will be the second time that Stav and Netta have collaborated on a song, as he was part of the team behind Toy.
Eesti Laul 2019 participant, Uku Suviste knocked out in semi-final of The Voice Russia. Uku Suviste is no stranger to competitions, with appearances in competitions including Your Face Sounds Familiar and New Wave. Speaking about his time on the competition on his Instagram page, Uku paid tribute to his coach and fans: “Thank You @anilorak and her team as well as @voice1tv for having me to perform one of the most beautiful sets I’ve ever performed. The semifinals are over and so is my way on the the voice of Russia. It has brought my way more excitement, fun, thrills, wonderful people and success than I could’ve ever imagined.”
Semi-final allocation draw set for Tel Aviv Museum…as media suggests HaBima Theatre will host red carpet and Opening Ceremony. Originally — and following the lead of previous Eurovision host cities — the event was meant to take place in Tel Aviv’s city hall. But KAN conducted a test-run and it wasn’t satisfied, so launched a search for a new venue. Mr Shmerling’s confirmation ends domestic speculation about the matter.
Broadcast of the first stage of the Israeli preselection HaKokhav HaBa L’Eurovizion has been completed now. 68 acts managing to raise the wall were shown, however one of them – Elkana Marziano later announced his withdrawal from competition.
