DUBLIN, IRELAND – The head of Irish radio station 2fm, Dan Healy, has accused his counterparts of omitting to play the country’s 2016 Eurovision Song Contest entry.
Ireland’s representative Nicky Byrne is a presenter on 2fm radio, which is why Healy believes the song is being snubbed by rival stations.
“Nicky Byrne is representing Ireland and some local and national radio stations will not play his song because he works for 2fm. I’ve been told that. I’ve spoken to Nicky about it. It’s a pity. Nicky is patriotic … he’s representing the country and we would love the radio stations to play it”, Healy said.
