ICELAND – Representatives of Iceland in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest, Hatari spoke to Reshet 13 and they once again claimed Eurovision is a political event. In their exact words they said: “If Eurovision 2019 is not a political affair, the the Likud party is a pop band and Netanyahu is a lead singer”.
Hatari challenged once again Israeli Prime Minsiter to peacefully resolve the dispute: “We would like to reiterate to Netanyahu and his staff, we still await your response to Icelandic trouser grip wrestling challenge. In traditional trouser grip wrestling is a lot of leather straps, so you can hold and have a good grip on your opponent”.
Since they were voted by Icelandic audience, Hatari claim support to their political agenda: “There was a lot of pressure in Iceland to boycott the competition. We have been critical of the competition being held in Israel and the fact that Iceland voted for us means they agree with our agenda with keeping alive a critical discussion”.
They don’t clarify how they will protest though considering Pelenstinian flags not as an option. Their performance is not breaching the rules, say Hatari: “It’s clear that all of the songs that will be performed on stage in Tel Aviv will in fact offend the sensibilities of many people”.
