HELENA PAPARIZOU DARES TO RISK
ATHENS, GREECE – While Greece is getting closer and closer to go through to it’s 40th anniversary in the Eurovision Song Contest (more good news to follow soon), the first Eurovision winner for Greece, Helena Paparizou was a special guest in the popular TV Show “Eleni” with Eleni Menegaki.
During the interview Helena Paparizou talked about the Eurovision Song Contest and her participation in Melodifestivalen 2014. She was proposed to participate in Eurovision by SVT’s Christer Björkman for almost 10 years now. Even when she won for Greece Mr Christer Björkman was constantly asking her participate on behalf of Sweden.
“I am daring to risk and live the entire experience for the third time” Helena said to Eleni Menegaki when she asked the Greek Swedish singer why she is putting through herself in this competition thriller again. “I am not a person that can easily decide, sometimes I expect others to decide for me, but somehow it felt right”.
Although she fully understands that she cannot even go to the final, Helena is enjoying the entire procedure which came (according to her) by accident: “I was recording my international album in Stockholm and during my coffee break I listened from the studio a demo singer saying the word “survivor”, I was curious, I entered the studio and when the composers told me it’s for Melodifestivalen I said yes, I want the song and I want to go to Melodifestivalen”.
Although currently 4th in the overall Melodifestivalen betting odds (for the moment), Helena keeps smiling and can’t wait to see herself performing on that stage. It will actually be the 2nd time for her as in 2012 she performed during the MF Final interval act the 2011 Eurovision entry of Sweden “Popular”, making a big test with the audience upon a future participation in the show. The test proven more than positive.
Helena recently changed her hairstyle for a commercial company and she is going through a phase where she is getting our of depression as she personally confessed on camera: Her father’s death and her separation from her boyfriend after 12 years led the singer in a big transition to her life. During the show, Helena also performed one of her hits in Greece, the video of which is available below.
