GREECE 🇬🇷 It is no secret that Alexander Rybak arrived in Lisbon with no intention to give any interviews to the press and fan media (with the majority of the people in the press centre talking about arrogance). Instead he tries through his social media and through his personal message either vocal or with his violin to get sympathised by the audience of other nations in order to get votes. Nothing wrong with that. One such example was he recent consolidation video message to Yianna Terzi for her elimination from the final. But for sure this is not accidental as Rybak has a huge fanbase in Greece and their votes can make an impact. But this is from a man who in August, speaking to oikotimes.com in Athens, said that he has no intention to return to the Eurovision Song Contest as a singer. Nevertheless and although we somehow know that the national juries will fully support him, the betting odds and polls drop his chances for thee trophy.
Now let’s return to our beloved Yianna and Eleni Foureira. Two girls who belong in the same record label and there seems to be no excuse for mishaps. On the night of the first semi final Eleni was speaking to the press saying how shocked she was Greece didn’t make it to the final. Two days before in the Blue Carpet Eleni and Yianna were exchanging flattering comments for each other aiming to show how supporting they are. But despite Eleni’s fine behaviour (whether it was real or not), Yianna seems to have forgotten what Eurovision is all about.
No harm with expressing your personal emotions, feelings and taste especially since you are officially out off the competition. But she wasn’t aware that the Greeks were not considering Yianna, yet, out of the competition. Herr instagram posts with Austrian and Bulgarian delegation wishing to Zhana the best of luck and to win on Saturday almost caused a dgimplatic incident between the Eurofans of the two countries, as the Greeks thought that since May 8th, Yianna should not do anything else but praising and supporting Eleni Foureira.
Greek media made a lot of speculations: one of them was that Yianna coming recently from the USA, where she was living for years, was not aware of how the “marketing” in Greece is working and the other was based on Aris Kalimeris (composer) statement that next year they will both submit a song for another country. Is that country Bulgaria? Well we don’t know. But what we know is that upon arrival in Athens, Greek media stormed Yianna about her elimination from the Grand Final and her lack of support to Eleni. Regarding the elimination she confused everyone as she didn’t clarify whether it was her or RTP fault. Regarding Eleni, she seemed well taught and replied that it’s her default emotion to support Cyprus.
But then again, why those photos with Austria and Bulgaria were deleted?
