Greece 2018 🇬🇷 unexpected welcome reception for Yianna Terzi’s entry
GREECE – Greeks are not famous for welcoming in a warm way any of the Greek selected entry. Even in 2005 when Helena Paparizou won the Eurovision Song Contest, there were special shows immediately after the live show, criticising her performance and the use of English language. I think it is the first time in the Greek Eurovision history, a song which will represent the county in Eurovision, has such a warm welcome.
Within six days the song got 1 million views on YouTube, in less than two weeks it reached 2 million views and still remains #1 trend on YouTube. Besides this success the comments on the web and especially below the YouTube lyric video, are almost all positive. The song is getting the most positive comments and seems to have made Greek fans and viewers happy and proud not only of its consistency but also for the proper use of modern ethnic sound, the use of Greek lyrics which can easily be seen from emotional, erotic to even political.
Many recall the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest entry with Elina Konstantopoulou and even more the 1992 Eurovision entry by Cleopatra, two entries deeply political and emotional as the issue of the Macedonia was back then in the spot light. Especially the part of Yianna Terzi’s song which mentions “why do you want to discolour my blue” seems to be the whole message of the song for the Greeks who right now are suffering a 8 year economic depression and devastation with two big political crisis underway with Turkey and FYR Macedonia.
In the meantime Yianna Terzi is gearing up for the official video clip presentation through a special ERT show which will be aired by Duo Fina on March 8th. She also posted a short video on Instagram rehearsing.
