Get on board; Eurovision kicks off in Vienna’s trams
VIENNA, AUSTRIA – Eurovision 2015 is less than 6 months away, and the Austrian capital city is already getting ready for the event.
Today, ORF, together with public transport company Wiener Linien transportation company, and Gewista advertising company, revealed the new streetcar that will run through the city during May celebrations. This brand new tram will be decorated with the contest “Building bridges” slogan and artwork.
Eurovision 2015 executive producer, Edgar Boehm, declared: “The ‘Building Bridges’ tram makes the song contest in Vienna present, since public transport will play an important role for us during the Eurovision Song Contest. We therefore made this the first and most visible sign”.
This new Eurovision streetcar is just the starting point of the “transformation” of the imperial capital. Gewista CEO, Karl Javurek also made a statement: “The Song Contest puts Vienna in the centre of international interest, and we look forward to putting together [more] accents in the public sphere. The Song Contest tram is just the beginning”.
It is obvious now that the 2015 host city is 200% dedicated to the event. Ain’t that exciting?
