GET MARRIED DURING EUROVISION!
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – The City of Copenhagen will during Eurovision offer foreign homosexual and heterosexual couples to get married in three selected locations in Copenhagen between the 7th and the 10th of May.
Copenhagen will show that the city is friendly and open to everyone and Eurovision is the perfect opportunity to offer marriage ceremonies.
Since 2010 the city has offered open air marriage ceremonies in Copenhagen and on May 7th it is 25 years ago the first gay wedding in the world took place at the Copenhagen City Hall. On this day in 2014 a big ceremony will be held with orchestras at the Opera House. On May 9th the Højbro Plads will host the marriage ceremonies and on May 10th the City of Copenhagen will host ceremonies on their “wedding boat”.
Denmark was the first country in the world to give gay couples status of “registered partners” and in 2012 the government allowed gay couples to be married in churches and give them the same status as heterosexual couples.
