GERMANY – German national broadcaster is about to choose eight to ten finalists for the national final through which the country will decide its 2019 Eurovision Song Contest entry in Israel.
The fan jury is gathered for the first time to narrow the 198 candidates to 50. As NDR entertainment director Thomas Schreiber recently revealed, more than 1000 submissions gathered.
Now 100 German Eurovision fans are listening to the candidates and will arrows them to 50. The meeting took place in Cologne. The meetings will continue the coming weeks in four German cities.
When the 50 songs chosen, an international jury of experts from 20 countries will narrow them to 20. Those 20 will be invited in a special Eurovision workshop in Cologne.
Then there will be matching of the artists with the songs. 150 songs have been received and more will be composed in a songwriting camp set to take place in November.
The final list is expected to be decided in December along with details on how the national final will take place.
