Georgia 2017: EBU cannot comment the song until it’s officially submitted
SWITZERLAND – When the Georgian national final ended we all spotted weird use of background images during the performance of the winner, Tako Gachechiladze. Most of them political including the Russian invasion to Georgia in 2008.
Despite EBU hosting the national final performance on their YouTube channel, which includes the clear political reference, they responded the following regarding the story:
“The EBU does not comment on any song until it is formally submitted by a national broadcaster in March. However, the Eurovision Song Contest is a non-political event, and rules exist to ensure that it remains so.”
