INDEPENDENT.CO.UK REPORTS – Conchita Wurst made her modelling debut today, walking at the Jean Paul Gaultier Couture show in Paris. “I met Conchita two years ago she came to one of my couture shows,” Gaultier told The Independent post-show. “I loved her look and when I heard that she will represent Austria for the Eurovision Song Contest, I was delighted. When she won I was crazy with joy.
“I always say that beauty is difference and Conchita has shown us all that she is unstoppable. And she looks great in couture; she is a real couture woman.”
Wurst – who famously won the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest – was given the prestigious closing spot, a fashion honour usually bestowed on the designer favourite or most famous model. Previous high-profile names to have been given the same slot include Dita Von Teese and Beth Ditto.
Most non-professional models might have shown an iota of nerves for such an occasion, but not Wurst who looked pretty much magnificent; that steely, intense facial expression; those dramatic hand gestures; palms regally upturned and have you ever seen such masterfully defined eyebrows? It’s just another addition to add to Wurst’s growing list of achievements, having become a LGBT icon since winning the Eurovision. She headlined this year’s Gay Pride Festivals in London, Madrid and Stockholm and is currently focusing on her debut album, including a mix of ballads and upbeat tracks. Oh, and she wants to win a Grammy. Wurst at her most regal at the Gaultier show
Gaultier and Wurst attended the Vienna Life Ball together in May, when she out-fashioned everyone wearing an off-the-shoulder fishtail dress, before changing a sheer, metallic gown for her performance.
