NOVONITE.COM REPORTS (SOFIA, BULGARIA) – The Bulgarian city of Ruse hosts a festival of ice sculptures on Svoboda (Liberty) square between December 14 and 22. ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
This is the second edition of the festival and it will be twice larger in size than last year, with the organisers having provided 130 ice blocks. The theme of the festival, which was officially unveiled on Wednesday, is “Ruse in dreams of ice”. The participants will carve out an ice bar as well as models of iconic buildings and world symbols such as the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, the Sphinx.
The event is part of the traditional Christmas-New Year festival of the municipality, which started on December 2 with the lighting of the Christmas tree.
The celebrations marking the festive period will last until December 31 and will feature performances of child music groups, folklore ensembles, the ballet of the State Opera in Ruse and Gabriela Yordanova, the Bulgarian representative at this year’s edition of the Junior Eurovision.
