Francesca Michielin is excited to perform at F1 Grand Prix in Italy
ITALY – It was her team since she was child, and now Francesca Michielin , the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest participant, Francesca Michielin will perform in from of 140,000 people and 20 million viewers at the Italian F1 Grand Prix.
“It’s a crazy thing, I just have to talk about it. Singing the Hymn of Italy is less simple than it seems: they asked me to rearrange it, I was inspired by Woodkid. It will be energetic, always solemn, but cooler. Less marked, more tribal. But anxious, I’m excited.”
Her latest single, Vulcano, is a radio hit already and she explained her experience with a test drive in the Formula 1 with a safety car (which was Ferrari by the way) and she talked about how she fancies the Italian drivers.
When she was invited by Automobile Club Italia and Autodromo Nazionale Monza she immediately accepted, an initiative which started as of the qualification races for the Austrian F1 Grand Prix.
It is the second time that F1 Grand Prix Italy invited a Eurovision participant. In 2015 Il Volo also performed.
Lewis Hamilton has overtaken Sebastian Vettel’s lead in the driver’s championship after claiming a breezy win at Monza. The Brit sat comfortably in first for the majority of the race and looked to be in peak form. Mercedes dominated in Italy this year, taking both first and second place on the podium with Vatteri Bottas.
