PARIS, FRANCE – The news that had leaked last Thursday, has proven to be right since, the morning, Amir was officially confirmed as the French act for Stockholm. The leak has forced the French broadcaster to make this statement a week before the official date.
In the famous show « le Grand Rendez-Vous Des Média » on radio Europe 1, France TV head of entertainment Nathalie André has officially announced that 31-year-old French singer Amir Haddad would fly the flag for France. Mrs André also confirmed that the song “J’ai Cherché” (I’ve been looking for) is the entry Amir will perform.
Though not overwhelmingly popular in France, Amir is not a newcomer. He took part to Kokhav Nolad (Israeli Idol) in 2006, and finished 3rd in “The Voice, La Plus Belle Voix De France” in 2013. He has already released one album in 2011, and “J’ai Cherché” is his forth single since 2014.
The reactions over the Internet have been quite positive for once, and more than one French fan shouted “Enfin!” or “Youpi!” listening to the fresh, mid-tempo pop song, performed in French and English. After years of disappointment and weak entries, France (under the wise leadership of Nathalie André and Edoardo Grassi) has decided to take the contest much more seriously, and we’re glad they did. Edoardo had promised us a surprise, and we’re not disappointed!
Amir gave his very first interview this morning on radio RFM repeating how happy, flattered and proud he is with this nomination and how motivated he’s feeling.
On Saturday March 12th, on France 2’s “Dicaire Show”, the song will be officially performed. Don’t miss the rendezvous!
