Iceland: Söngvakeppnin 2018 Submissions Due
ICELAND – It seems that Iceland confirmed their participation in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest and the national broadcaster seems to have given a date for it. There seems to be two semi finals on February 17th and 24th respectively and a final of Söngvakeppnin on March 3rd.
Iceland has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 30 times since its debut in 1986, missing only two contests since then, in 1998 and 2002, when prevented from competing due to finishing outside qualification places the preceding years. The country’s best result is two second-place finishes, with Selma in 1999 and Yohanna in 2009.
Since the introduction of the semi-final round in 2004, Iceland has failed to qualify for the final six times, including for the last three years (2015–17). As of 2017, Iceland is the only Northern European country that has yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest.
