EUROVISION STILL MAKES AN IMPACT ON SPANISH SHOW
In what was an emotional night, the final of Spanish music show “Tu Cara me Suena” was shown live on Spanish channel, Antena 3. The competition was won by Roko, who performed as Shirley Bassey and runner-up was the 2010 Spanish Eurovision representative Daniel Diges who performed as Placido Domingo. There was a guest performance of the night by last years’ representative, Pastora Soler who sang the Celine Dion classic “My heart will go on”. This was received to an enthusiastic round of applause.
The programme has established itself as a regular on Spanish television and this final concludes the second series although a third is already scheduled. Taken from the “Stars in their Eyes” concept, the programme pits celebrities against each other on a weekly basis, with each celebrity taking on the role of a popular singer/performer. Recently producers announced that the show has been taken up by Chinese television with viewing figures of over 200 million, other versions can be seen in Turkey, Italy, Holland, Ukraine, Portugal, Rumania, Lithuania, Vietnam and Chile. In 2013 the countries expected to adopt the concept are the UK, Holland, France, Germany, Russia, Greece and the United States.
