THE NETHERLANDS -The bid book that Rotterdam will hand in tomorrow in Hilversum states, among other things, that the city is allocating 15 million euros for the organization. Ahoy has been designated as the venue for the music festival and there are three thousand hotel rooms “free” during the Song Festival period.
The experience with major events, the modern appearance of this “world city” and the good infrastructure are other plus points that the Maas city mentions.
To get the money on the table, we look at sponsors, spontaneous public campaigns, crowdfunding, possibly increasing the tourist tax, government money and municipal contributions.
If Rotterdam gets the Eurovision song, then you can count on 1 million euros from the province of South Holland. A majority of the council also wants surrounding municipalities to contribute to the costs if they benefit from the Rotterdam Song Contest. That too must yield a considerable amount.
The Rotterdam bid book was discussed in the meeting of the city council. How much Den Bosch has left for the organization has not been announced. B and W van Den Bosch, who is also a candidate for the organization of the Eurovision Song Contest, do not make the bid book public because of the company data, according to a spokesperson.
The proposal from the college to the city council of 2 July will be made public.
