ISRAEL – Every year the regional media, followed by some fan sites, are searching for a host country descent artist and make headlines that could host the Eurovision Song Contest. This year is no exception. Natalie Portman has been tipped as KAN’s wish to host the event next year (most likely in Tel Aviv according to Finance Ministry sources).
Already, Israeli actress Gal Gadot turned down an offer to host the Eurovision Song Contest next year in Israel. Her agency said she could not host the contest after an invitation to do so by Israel’s Kan network due to a scheduling conflict, Ynet reported. “Gal would be happy to host and take part in the Eurovision, but unfortunately, schedule constraints and previous commitments do not permit it,” her agency, the ADD Content Agency, said in a statement.
Gadot was a big supporter of the winner, Netta Barlizai, calling on her tens of thousands of social media followers to vote for the Israeli singer, and posting her congratulations when the contest ended. The country of the winning song becomes the next year’s host. The sequel to Gadot’s break-out hit “Wonder Woman” is due to be released next year. Wonder Woman gets a shout-out in the winning song, “Toy.”
But in the case of Natalie Portman we have significant difference. Due to the recent incidents with the Palestinians, Natalie Portman refused to receive a national award which was scheduled for her and which was accompanied. by the check of 2 million USD. She says she refuses to use her image and personality and will not attend any. public events in Israel making of course the task of hosting Eurovision 2019, a hard one.
In the meantime, expert fan sites, claim that Bar Refaeli and Geula Even are also included in KAN’s Wishlist but wee all know that in the end the hosting job will be once. again a surprise.
