ISRAEL – Following the tender for the national selection, Israeli national broadcaster, KAN launched also, today, the tender for the host city of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest as agreed by the the broadcaster and the EBU in their recent meeting in Geneva.
The process though will take place through invitation of cities. KAN will invite the cities who already expressed their wish to host the event: Eilat, Haifa, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
Having in mind that the key criteria in hosting the event are the international airport, accommodation and of course a proper venue it seems that at the moment Eilat is unlikely to get the hosting jobs it lacks of a venue with their current one having an audience ability of 3,000 people.
Jerusalem is also considered as highly unlike to get the job after. the international reactions despite the huge political support inland. Jerusalem though has been making preliminary preparations for hosting, such as drafting up plans for Teddy Stadium and offers of support from the mayor of Jerusalem.
Haifa and Tel Aviv are considered to be the favourites to get the hosting job with Tel Aviv been the. preference of Eurofans in Israel and abroad as the international image of the city has been promoted the recent years through the huge Gay Pride event, the Israel Calling event and the massive tourist promo the city has been made the past decade.
