Eurovision 2019 🇮🇱 confusion over host city and dates announcement
Fotis Konstantopoulos (Greece)
ISRAEL – It has been the talk of the week with the host city and dates for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest speculated, leaked and gossiped. After the leaked letter of the Tel Aviv Mayor to the EBU, welcoming the event in the city, Channel 12 & 13 claim they know that the dates are 21, 23, 25 of May.
This forced EBU to issue a Facebook statement in which they said:
“Despite ongoing media speculation, no decision has yet been made by the EBU as to which city will host the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. Tel Aviv and Jerusalem have both submitted extremely strong bids which meet the needs of the Contest. We are examining the proposals carefully in order to choose the best overall location for next year’s event.
When a decision has been reached the host city will be revealed via our official channels”
It is clear from what we all know that Tel Aviv’s Convention Centre is the host city and venue and the dates are likely to be either the set of May 14, 16, 18 Orr May 21, 23, 25 and it has. becoming weird after a week from the inspection of the EBU representatives in Israel to have such a delay of the announcement. Usually EBU don’t make announcements during the weekend therefore we are expecting some news on Monday.
