Eurovision 2016: so who’s hosting the event?
Vasil Dimitrov (Bulgaria)
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Well, it’s early to have an answer despite the predictions and bets about Tele 2 Arena in Stockholm, on who’s getting the hosting job as a city in 2016.
Christer Björkman revealed in Swedish press that due to the fact the country was a favourite to win Eurovision 2015, SVT informed all interested cities to get ready to proceed into an immediate bidding proposal so they have the necessary time to fix everything perfect for Eurovision 2016.
Stockholm, Malmö and Göteborg are the cities bidding to host the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest edition. The first two already have hosted the event in the history of Swedish history in Eurovision while Göteborg just once in 1985.
Somehow it’s clear that with the recent hosting of Malmö in 2013 the city is really out of the question. Göteborg is a real catch for the SVT although we wonder if the international airport can really handle the prerequisites of hosting such an event. Stockholm seems also ideal as in our recent visit as oikotimes.com to Melodifestivalen, the organisers during the press tour in Friends Arena told us that it’s very likely Tele 2 Arena to host the event in case they win.
