EUROVISION 2013: THE STAGE IS ALMOST READY
The Swedish national boradcaster is already inside the Malmo Arena and the construction of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 stage is almost done. The construction is ongoing for days now and there are big precautions to avoide any possible mistkae which will lead to major problems later on. For the lighting team the challenge is to follow the tight schedule. All design and constructiondepartments need and do work in full collaboration and solving problems on the spot.
Frederick Moritz is responsible for the logistics and budget and has 30 technicians on site. Construction workers are also working from the roof ceiling and they have to make sure 160 tons of materials to be placed properly. The lighting is a key factor for the contest as it will ensure the variety of styles between each song and there has to be no risk on this issue. The team is working with new and fresh equipment.
Shifts in the construction area are 10 hours and the constructin leader says that the team is 12 hours ahead of schedule. Different nationalities are co-existing in this project and they all have to communicate in English. Germans and Swedish workers seem to work fine together.
