Eurostars to attend Slovenska Popevka 2014
LJUBLJANA, SLOVENIA – The upcoming Slovenian song festival “Slovenska Popevka” is set to feature several Eurostars in its lineup this year. Headlining the festival are Darja Švajger and Nuša Derenda, who represented Slovenia at the 1995 and 2001 Eurovision Song Contest respectively.
Other Eurostars taking part are Steffy, as well as Rudi Bučar, who have taken part in the Slovenian national Eurovision Selection – EMA. Bučar was also one of the backing vocalists for Slovenia’s 2007 representative Alenka Gotar in Helsinki.
Darja Švajger has achieved one of the best results for Slovenia at Eurovision, placing 7th in 1995 with the song “Prisluhni mi”. Nuša also placed 7th in 2001 with the song “Energy”.

Slovenska Popevska is Slovenia’s answer to the Saremo Music Festival. It first started in 1962 and lasted until 1983. It was revived later in 1998.
