To make things interesting, Ice Hockey Federation of the Republic of Belarus has organized a special competition for the best song.
The winner was announced in popular show Main Broadcast, aired on Channel 1. The winner song is called “Nam nuzhna pobeda” (We need a victory). You are probably wondering, why is a Eurovision website reporting about a sport event. Well it is because the composers of the songs are Evgeny Oleynik and Yuliya Bykova, who are responsible for Belarusian entries Eurovision 2011, 2007 Junior entry and soundtrack of Junior Eurovision 2010, that was held in Minsk.
The selected song is revamed version of Aura’s song “Ale” that was performed during national final. In this new version, song is performed by group Aura and Teo, who will represent Belarus in Copenhagen at Eurovision and one of the hosts of hockey program. One more interesting thing is that Litesound, who also represented Belarus at Eurovision, also submitted a song called “Brothers” that was noted by the jury that was in charge of the selection.
