MINSK, BELARUS – It seems that Alexey Gross is withdrawing from the Eurofest 2014, the national final through which Belarus will initially decide it’s artist for Eurovision Song Contest 2014.
Alexey was suppose to participate with the song “If I could do it all again” composed for Marc Paelinck. The song is copyrighted under the company Spamash in which Alexey is signed as artist since 2012. The song though was performed already in the 2011 Maltese national selection and this was something the artist says wasn’t aware and withdrew his bid from Eurofest 2014.
Alexey says that he wasn’t aware of the song been performed previously by another artist and called for investigation. Although he could request to change song for the national selection as Eurofest 2014 decides only the artist and not the song, Alexey says that he doesn’t want to misuse the rules of national selection and be on the spotlight of gossip and rumours therefore he withdraws from Eurofest 2014.
However the artist thanks the Eurofest 2014 jury for appreciating his performance and allowed him to reach the national final and he promises to come back in 2015.
