COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – Claus Zier has been appointed stage designer by DR and he will create the scenography for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. For Claus Zier it is a dream coming true and he is very proud the get the important job for the contest.
He has been dreaming of creating a scene for the Eurovision Song Contest since Denmark last hosted the competition in 2001. Together with three other architects he is already working 24 hours a day to create the perfect setting at the B&W Halls on Eurovision Island in Copenhagen.
Claus Zier has already visited the B&W Halls and he says that he can feel the history in the old shipyard and the transformation the halls are going through next year is very fascinating and magical.
He has made the stage design for shows like X Factor, The Voice Denmark, Dancing With The Stars and Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, the Danish national final for Eurovision. The Eurovision Song Contest is a new challenge for Claus Zier and he will base the scenography on the story of the shipyard and he promises a visually breathtaking show in May next year.
The heights of 60 meters in the hall will be used and there have to be different expressions for each country even though it is the same show and scene.
The ambition is to create the biggest, most beautiful and surprising show that makes the Danes proud and unites Europe.
