Fotis Konstantopoulos (Greece)
ATHENS, GREECE – The Greek government got parliamentary approval through voting for the ERT to re-establish as the national broadcaster of the country and the supervisors are considering the re-opening of the broadcaster on June 11th marking two years from the shut down of ERT through black screens, a move that shocked not only the Greeks but the entire civilised world.
The former employees of the Greek national broadcaster will be eligible to return to work and the Eurovision Song Contest participation is not affected as ERT will smoothly replace NERIT. The government took also in consideration that with the upcoming finals of Eurovision and Champions League they cannot afford to have a serious problem with the sponsors and the internationals deals therefore June 11th is a solution that will solve many problems on the way to relaunching the national broadcaster.
