The team of oikotimes.com is honored to host the interview with Eddie Razaz, the sexy Swedish guy who participated in Melodifestivalen 2013. We love Eddie and we are happy to have his answers, in his actually first web interview in a Eurovision fan site!

Eddie, after so many months, what is now your feelings about your participation in Melodifestivalen 2013? Well, I firstly have to say that I’m very proud of my performance and I learned so much during Melodifestivalen 2013. It opened a lot of doors for me!

Do you plan to participate again this year?
I would love to participate again!

In 2013 Melodifestivalen many of us thought you are the favourite to win the entire thing. What went wrong you think? I don’t acutally know, maybe it was because people were tired of hearing three male pop acts in a row and unfortunatley I was the last one and got eliminated. But you know how people vote, all I can say is that I enjoyed every minute of being on that stage.

Why did you enter Melodifestivalen and what Eurovision means to you?
It was always a big dream of mine to participate and I have always watched it since I was a child.

Many claim there is some dark side in Eurovision with fraud in the voting and other speculations. Does this stop you from participating maybe in the future? Never.

Would you participate if the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Moscow, after their recent anti-gay law? I would, but I would be very candid and I would speak very openly about me being against these horrible actions that are taken place in Russia.

Let’s get to personals now: Who is really Eddie Razaz? How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as loving, deep, emotional and funny.

Was it a dream to become a singer? Did you regret getting involved in the show-biz industry?
It was. no never, of course there are times when I had doubts about myself and my career but at the end of the day it’s my love for music, singing and writing that overcomes those negative thoughts.

How the fans reacting to you? What’s the most sweet and the most weird reaction you ever received? My fans are the best, I’m so grateful everyday for the love I get! The sweetest is when people come up to me and talk to me, I really appreciate that! Well when i was on tour this summer a girl screamed from the audiance that my underwear was showing (big laugh)!

What are your plans for the future? any upcoming album or single? any concerts outside Sweden? Well, I’m starring in a short film that will be screened in various film festivals this winter and next year. I’m also writing new music all the time, both for me and for different artists. I love to write! No releases are set yet unfortunately but it I will definitely release new material soon – once I feel ready!

Eddie Razaz (full name Ardalan Razaz Rahmati) born on 21 December 1988 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish singer of Persian origin. He was a former participant of Swedish Idol 2009 and finished sixth. Eddie Razaz and Rabih Jaber, yet another Idol participant, became a duo pop boy band as REbound! in 2010 with a number of hits on the Swedish charts. After split-up of the band in April 2011, Eddie Razaz is continuing as a solo singer. In November 2012 he was signed to Warner Music Sweden. He has done also modelling and was featured in advertisements.

Born in Stockholm to Iranian parents who came from Iran, he first auditioned for Swedish Idol in 2005 but was eliminated during the qualifying rounds. He also worked with a modeling agency.

In 2009, he took part in TV4 Idol 2009, the sixth season of the Swedish version of Idol. This was his second, more successful shot at the competition after not qualifying in 2005. In 2009 edition of Idol, he reached Week 6 of the live shows before being eliminated and coming sixth overall.

After the end of the Idol, Eddie Razaz paired with Rabih Jaber, a Swedish singer of Lebanese origin and another contestant on sixth season of the Swedish Idol to form Rebound! (often stylized as REbound! with Capital R standing for Rabih and capital E for Eddie) and ended up having a few hits, most notably the chart topping “Hurricane” that reached No. 1 of Sverigetopplistan, the official Swedish Singles chart on 7 May 2010. The band had follow up singles “Not Helpless” and “Psycho” before splitting up in April 2011.

Razaz was reportedly preparing his debut solo album for release in 2012 and cooperating in this regard with Kurdish-Persian-Swedish rapper and songwriter Rebstar. No such album materialized.

Eddie Razaz took part in Melodifestivalen 2013 with the song “Alibi” written by Peter Boström and Thomas G:son in a bid to represent Sweden during Eurovision Song Contest 2013 to be held in Malmö, Sweden. He performed in the third semi-final held in Skellefteå Kraft Arena, Skellefteå on 16 February 2013, but did not qualify for the finals.

Razaz is also pursuing a modeling career. Many semi-nude pictures of his circulated around even before his appearances on Idol. They were taken by a modeling agency as he revealed in an interview with Swedish gay magazine QX. Because of the pictures, he enjoyed notable interest in many lifestyle and gay forums internationally. He also modeled for Tom Ford Eyewear with photography by Bingo Rimér.

In May 2010 issue of the Swedish gay magazine QX, Eddie Razaz came out as gay. When asked about why he didn’t come out while on Idol, he answered to QX’s Anders Öhrman: “I have always lived openly and I have stood for it all my life. And my parents have really been a fantastic support and never had any problems with it. I am fortunate to have such good parents. But when you find yourself in the spotlight, questions like “coming out” comes up again. And I did not want. It [coming out] should never be forced. But now I do not feel compelled, I like it here.”
