EBU CONFIRMS BELARUS NEW ENTRY IS ELIGIBLE
Yesterday it was announced that Alyona Lanskaya (who will represent Belarus 2013 in the Eurovision Song Contest has changed a song for Malmoe. Instead of “Rhythm is Love” she will perform “Solayoh” a song which already got positive vibes on the web and launched Belarus from spot 38 to spot 7 in the betting odds.
The song penned by Belgian author Paelinck was already on the web (MySpace) since 2008 in a different demo version. Paelinck is known to the eurofans from his participations in 2002 and 2004 where Belgium ranked 13th and 22nd respectively. The lyrics of the song are penned by Martin King.
EBU’s Sietse Bakker responded to the issue though Twitter saying that the song “Solayoh” is eligible to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest after the proper BTRC explanations given. This is due to the recent change of the rules which allows previously publicly released songs if there was only a small public attendance and not a wide release.
Alyona plans to perform the song with her 4 dancers in the Romanian and Moldovan final and also to record the video clip preliminary scheduled to be recorded in Istanbul (Turkey) including team from Belgium and Greece.
