DR SOLVES STAGEHANDS STRIKE
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – Danish national broadcaster is suppose to deal with television and production of TV program and shows. Today it seems DR was also mediating to solve a working crisis among the four stagehands companies contracted to build the stage of the 59th Eurovision Song Contest.
Stagehands blocked the road to the venue this morning as Danish workers’ newspaper reported today, complaining for the work and wage conditions as they still have no final deal signed with their contracted companies. They threatened to stop the entire construction demanding from DR to solve this.
OK working rights are to be respected and we all realise this but asking DR to solve this sounds a bit out of sense. No matter what though DR did got involved in this crisis and promised Scaffolding Union to take control of the issue.
Strikes and complaints upon a Eurovision event is not something we haven’t seen before. We all remember the big strike back in 1977 when technicians stopped working at the BBC resulting to a five week delay of the event. That year Tunisia was suppose to take part but withdrew the last minute!
Nevertheless DR proven to be once again on the top of circumstances giving result to something that actually it’s not up to them. Professionalism and reasoning proven once again to rule this country, something that the organisers proven all over the year of preparations for the 59th Eurovision Song Contest.
