Today the official Eurovision page of the Danish national broadcaster published the views of our chief editor regarding the Greek crisis with the national broadcaster and the future of the country in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
My comments on DR’s site about things were: Greece is now legally has a new national broadcaster after the sudden shut down of ERT on June 11th. Although legally confirmed the country will have to wait until the new signal will be on air.
Currently there is no legal active membership for that broadcaster to participate in Eurovision 2014 but the EBU is willing to solve the issue when the new broadcaster is properly working.
The success of Greece in the contest since 2004 as it has been in the top ten with the exception of 2012 and the fact that Eurovision costs practically nothing to the tax payers since costs are covered by sponsors give hope for the fans in Greece to await a 2014 participation.
