DR ENTERS B&W AND STARTS PREPARATIONS
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – The preparations for the Eurovision in B&W Arena are in the last stage and soon the halls are ready to welcome the participants. A team in DR is making the light show and right now the lightning designer Kasper Lange is programming the light show on a computer in 3D to control the lamps and displays in the arena.
With 3000 lights and over 1200 square meters LED screen the Eurovision Song Contest is the biggest production in Danish history and one of the biggest in the world. The lightning designer was responsible for the lightning designs for shows like The X-Factor Denmark, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, but when he thinks about the huge production he get chills.
With 46 men working with the light production there is a lot to do before the rehearsals in May. Some countries have a very specific plan for their show with colors, images and graphics and others say simply “It must be blue”, so they need to be guided by us, Kasper Lange explains. His job is to create 37 different looks for the participants so they all have their own look.
