Danish broadcaster, DR, has apologised for the outfits worn on behalf of the drummers accompanying its 2013 Eurovision entrant Emmelie de Forest. The outfits are similar to those of Nazi uniforms and will be replaced for Eurovision.
Emmelie’s team says they chose the outfits after searching DR’s costume warehouse. They thought the uniforms would look cool for the national final performance and did not realise the similarities they draw to Nazi uniforms.
“Luckily we managed to edit in the tapes we have sent out. We have blurred out the stripes on the arms of the uniforms that shows it is an SS Nazi looking uniform. It would have been a disaster had we not done that”, DR’s head of entertainment, Jan Lagerman Lundme, says.
Denmark is currently one of the favourites to win the Eurovision Song Contest according to bookmakers.
