COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – Danish national broadcaster announced that Mich Hedin Hansen (aka Cutfather) will be in charge of the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2016 after the (unfairly for some of us) bad results for the country in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
Mich Hedin Hansen is a well known music producer and songwriter. He is perhaps best known for his remix of “Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison (1996), and the song “Superstar” released internationally by Jamelia in 2003. In 2015 “Up” by Olly Murs feat. Demi Lovato became a big international hit. He has worked with Danish producer Jonas Jeberg. They have written and produced for Pussycat Dolls, Kylie Minogue and Jordin Sparks. He has previously worked with Joe Belmaati in the songwriting and production team Cutfather & Joe. As part of the latter partnership he produced for Peter Andre, Ace of Base and Kylie Minogue. In 2003 he received the prestigious Ivor Novello award for Best Performing song for “Superstar” by Jamelia, which was the most played song in the United Kingdom that year.
According to his own website he is credited with seven number one singles and 37 top 10 singles in the UK and four top 10 singles in the U.S. Other artists Cutfather has produced or remixed music for include The Corrs, Brandy, Santana, Shayne Ward, Blue, Christina Aguilera, Angie Stone and most recent Pixie Lott.He owns a studio in Njalsgadepakhusene at Islands Brygge in Copenhagen, Denmark. “Most other countries which participate in the Eurovision Song Contest have started to look at this competition in a very serious way. We have also done so for years, but when the rest of Europe takes a step up the ladder, we need to do the same.”
In the very end he will choose the ten songs for DMGP 2016 alongside with Jonas Schrøder and officially propose them to DR for the national final. He promises there will be no bad results for Denmark in 2016 Eurovision Song Contest edition.
